The objective of the Citrix NetScaler 11 Essentials and Networking course is to provide the foundational concepts and skills necessary to implement, configure, secure, monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot a Citrix NetScaler system within a networking framework. This course is designed specifically for students who have limited or no previous NetScaler experience. Students will have access to hands-on exercises within a virtual lab environment.

This course is based on the Citrix NetScaler 11 product, but the skills and fundamental concepts learned are common to earlier product versions. An optional module on NetScaler SDX appliances is included with reinforcement simulation exercises.

Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:

• Identify the functionality and capabilities of the NetScaler
• Explain basic NetScaler network architecture
• Obtain, install, and manage NetScaler licenses
• Explain how SSL is used to secure the NetScaler
• Optimize the NetScaler system for traffic handling and management
• Customize the NetScaler system for traffic flow and content-specific requirements
• Demonstrate monitoring and reporting through native NetScaler logging tools
• Employ recommended tools and techniques to troubleshoot common NetScaler network and connectivity issues.
• Implement NetScaler TriScale technology, including clustering
• Configure advanced load balancing and GSLB on the NetScaler system
• Identify the capabilities, functionality and networking characteristics of the NetScaler SDX platform
• Explain the process of provisioning and administering NetScaler VPX instances on a NetScaler SDX appliance

This course is designed for Network Administrators/Engineers, Citrix Administrators, Operations Engineers, Systems Administrators/Engineers and Cloud Administrators/Engineers who are new to the NetScaler platform.

This course provides students with the skills required to successfully deploy a complete Citrix hosted application and desktop virtualization solution in a Windows Server 2012 R2 environment.

Throughout this course, students will learn how to configure an environment that includes the following Citrix components: XenServer, XenDesktop, Citrix License Server, MCS, PVS, Personal vDisk, StoreFront, NetScaler (ICA Proxy, Load Balancing, Endpoint Analysis), and Citrix Receiver. Upon course completion, students will be able to build a XenDesktop 7.6 environment from scratch and test the implementation to ensure that all components work as expected and that both internal and external end users can access XenDesktop resources successfully.

Upon successful completion of this course, learners are able to:

• Set up the hypervisor
• Set up the infrastructure components
• Set up XenDesktop 7.6 components
• Configure XenDesktop 7.6 resources (Server OS machines, hosted applications, and Desktop OS machines)
• Configure profiles and policies, Set up Provisioning Services and Validate the implementation
• Set up NetScaler to provide external access to XenDesktop 7.6 resources

Prerequisites

• An understanding of server, desktop and application virtualization concepts
• Experience with Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2 and Microsoft SQL Server

This course is recommended for solution designers such as Architects, Consultants, and Engineers. Students will gain hands-on experience installing and configuring hosted application and desktop virtualization solutions from the ground up. Upon completion of the course, students will have the skills required to successfully deploy XenDesktop 7.6 solutions that the majority of Citrix customers implement today.

The Managing App and Desktop Solutions with Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop 7.6 course provides students with the skills required to effectively support a Citrix application and desktop virtualization solution in a Windows Server 2012 R2 environment.

During this course, students will learn how to successfully manage, monitor, support and troubleshoot a XenDesktop 7.6 solution, which includes growing the implementation to accommodate changes in the environment (adding new applications, new users, new desktops, and new policies) and troubleshooting common issues.

Upon successful completion of this course, learners are able to:

• Understand the XenApp and XenDesktop 7.6 architecture, components, and communication
• Delegate administration and manage licenses
• Manage the XenApp and XenDesktop infrastructure
• Create and manage machine catalogs and Delivery Groups
• Manage Store Front, Printing and Provisioning Services
• Create and manage policies and end-user profiles
• Manage sessions, sites, and end users with Director

Prerequisites

• An understanding of server, desktop and application virtualization concepts
• Experience with Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 user interfaces
• Basic storage knowledge, Citrix licensing
• Familiarity with at least one hypervisor (XenServer, Hyper-V, or vSphere)
• Basic understanding of the different types of profiles (local, roaming, mandatory)

This course is recommended for Operators and Administrators that need to manage an existing XenApp or XenDesktop 7.6 solution. .

This course provides the skills necessary to effectively design, deploy, manage and support Citrix XenServer 6.5 SP1. Students with limited or no XenServer experience will gain an understanding of what is required to implement and maintain the components of a XenServer enterprise solution.

Students will have access to hands-on exercises within a virtual lab environment to configure a complete enterprise solution covering everything from installation to advanced troubleshooting.

Prerequisites

Citrix recommends students prepare for this course by gaining a basic understanding of the following concepts and technologies:

• A basic overall knowledge of virtualization technology. An understanding of computing architecture, including network and storage devices, device drivers and operating systems
• Basic knowledge of network devices and site architecture, including configuring VLANs, storage terminology and technologies, including partitions, SANs, LUNs, iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS file shares

This course is designed for IT professionals, systems engineers, administrators, and Citrix partners, who need to know how to design, deploy, manage, and support a XenServer enterprise solution.
